Résumé : |
"On the basis of a table with more than 725 releves the classification of riparian and alluvial forests is discussed. The table shows that most of the forests in the mediterranean and submediterranean regions of southern Europe belong to an own oder : Populetalia albae Br. - Bl. 1931 . The forests of western and Middle Europe of the Alno-Padion Knapp 1942 belong to the Fagetaliasylvaticae Pawl. 1928. This alliance can be divided in three suballiances : Alnenion glutinoso- incanae Oberd. 1953, Ulmenion Oberd. 1953, and Alno-Quercenion roboris Horvat 1938 emend. The latter suballiance in more continental parts of southeastern Europe forms a transition to the Populetalia. Some other transitional communities in northern Spain can also be arranged in the Alno- Padion.
The Populetalia albae have only a few floristic combination with the Querco- Fagetea. So an own but not well characterized class : Populetea albae may be possible but is not supported. The order is divided in severel alliances : on alluvial soils flooded from time to time, especially along larger rivers grow forests of the Populion albae Br. - Bl. 1931, alternated in the southeast by the Platanion orientalis J. et V. Karpâti 1961.
On moister soils, more along smaller rivers one can find forests with often dominant Fraxinus angustifolia forming perhaps an own alliance : Fraxinion angustifoliae Pedrotti 1970 prov.
In regions with a subatlantic-mediterranean climate on soils with high groundwater level all over the year grow riparian forests of Alnus glutinosa forming an own alliance : Osmundo- Alnion Drske et Riv. - Mart. 1975. In the higher mountains of southern Europe also communities of Alno-Padion sporadic can appear." (source : auteur) |
