Résumé : |
"The problems of applying AC in Scotland are not unique. Species selection is particularly complex, but might be based on a combination of both assessed threat from climate change, and characteristics that make the application of AC acceptable and likely to succeed. These latter include AC being the “last resort”, predicted low impact on donor populations, selection of sufficiently diverse and suitable genetic stock and of appropriate recipient sites, the recreation of necessary biotic interactions, and a low impact on recipient communities. However, although such characteristics are easy to list, their assessment is complex, the central over-arching problem being the lack of data for many potential candidate species. Although there is no shortage of research targets, priority areas for research action include: developing assessment processes to identify candidates for AC; investigations of dispersal abilities and genetics; practical trials of transplant methodologies; better understanding of what constitutes “last resort”; exploring the sourcing of material for AC; developing predictive techniques for selecting sites that will be suitable for future survival.
