Résumé : "Le travail rapporte les connaissances actuelles sur la biosystématique et l'évolution du complexe d'Asplenium trichomanes en Europe et en Macaronésie. Des diagrammes sont présentés, montrant les différents cytotypes, les formes actuellement connues et l'histoire évolutive supposée des polyploïdes. Le modèle évolutif de ce complexe, tel qu'il émerge des données morphologiques et cytologiques, est discuté sur la base des résultats récents obtenus par électrophorèse des isoenzymes.
Les données biochimiques révèlent une forte affinité entre la sous-espèce trichomanes et la sous-espèce quadrivalens (l'indice d'identité génétique a une valeur de 0,980), ce qui soutient l'hypothèse de l'origine tétraploïde de la seconde. La sous-espèce coriaceifolium est seulement faiblement liée aux autres membres du complexe d'Asplenium trichomanes (l'indice d'identité génétique est de 0,373 à 0,558). Elle possède 6 loci géniques (LAP 2, LAP 3, 6-PGD 2, PGI 2, PGI 3, PGM 2) qui ne se trouvent dans aucune autre forme étudiée, à l'exception des taxons qui en dérivent (nothosubsp. barreraense et subsp. nova 2). La sous-espèce coriaceifolium est interprétée comme un allopolyploïde entre un diploïde d'Asplenium trichomanes s. str. et une autre forme diploïde encore inconnue, qui n’a pas de forte affinité avec A. trichomanes. Cette interprétation concorde avec les données cytologiques. Dans presque tous les autres cas, les indices d'identité génétique varient de 0,797 à 0,913, indiquant des affinités élevées et uniformes dans le groupe « central » d’A. trichomanes."
